I'm in the process of switching my main from a medic to a punisher so that's why I left the guild in-game. There's a 24-hour wait until I can make another char with the same name, so I'll be back tomorrow :)

Unless it has changed recently... It looks like once you use a name, it can't be used again on that server... Even once the character with that name is deleted Source

Your best chance might be to send in a ticket (contact page: http://www.aeriagames.com/contact ) and ask very nicely if you can sort something out.

I read conflicting opinions on a few different forums. After level 10, it's either a few days wait or a month long wait according to a bunch of irritated formerly lost named people.
